Lords of Creation: Ancients of the Void
The Soul Fields is Kereth’s plane of existence. It exists as the place where all mortal souls come when they die. The Soul Fields are divided into individual sections that reflect the god that those mortal souls worshiped. There, the mortal souls can live out their afterlife in blissful enjoyment of what their god’s essence is. Within each subsection of the Soul Fields is a portal, waiting to be activated, through which souls can leave the Soul Fields and enter the afterlife of their chosen god. Kereth and the god whose plane it would lead to must activate the portal together, and even then, the portal itself is one way.
With the exception of Wayfinders, every soul that enters the Soul Fields is cleansed of the memories of its mortal life, and thus is only sorted based on the divinity they worshiped, rather than the actions they took in life. All souls, even if their god has established a portal to their afterlife, spend some time in the Fields before they pass onward.
The treatment of souls is of the utmost importance to Kereth, and for this reason he has established powerful wards on the Fields. They can only be entered with Kereth’s help, or through the Lantern he carries with him at all times. In addition, Kereth can force any entity out of the Fields should he wish. Furthermore, all souls are under Kereth’s protection, and once they are freed from their mortal bodies, they are his domain. He will allow no tampering with the cycle he has established, and possesses a particular hatred for the Wraiths, who by their very existence mock his Purpose.
