Ermark

The Blood Elves
Patron God: Artoran
Concepts: None

Physical Description: While most of the Elves are slight, nimble and, of course, pale, the Ermark are almost the complete opposite. While the Ermark still possess that strange Elvish grace they have far thicker shoulders, legs that are more like trunks than reeds. Their skin is also far darker, likely due to the Ermark spending most of their time under the sun. They have deep purple eyes, the color of blood that had spent days in the sun. While the Ermark are slightly different in appearance than most Elves they still have that eerie beauty.

Diet: The Ermark almost exclusively eat meat. While they aren’t cannibals like so many of Artoran’s races the Ermark do almost exclusively eat meat of the creatures they kill. While they won’t turn up their noses at fruits meat is the capstone of their diet.

Culture: Every part of the Ermark culture can be seen through their tatoos. While they always go naked, the Ermark still care for beauty. They go through ritualistic scarring, creating elaborate designs across their skin. If an Ermark is struck in combat the wound will likely scar, ruining the elegant patterns of their scarring and destroying much of their beauty. Those that allow themselves to be struck ruin both their beauty and show that they are feeble in combat. Another key part of the Ermark culture is the Blood Dance. In a ritualistic ceremony young Ermark will conduct mock battles with fake tools. Those that emerge unscathed are honored while those that bleed are seen as weak.

Mentality: While all Elves are racist and see other species as weak, the Ermark are positively xenophobic. All other races are scum and any that stray too near to Kar’enca’diar will end up dead. There is one exception; worshipers of Artoran. They will allow them near the outskirts, talk with them, fight with them, but they will suffer none to enter the splendor of Kar’enca’diar.

History: When the Elves were created by Kar’Vode’an each of the Twelve Houses was offered to the various gods. Artoran took the Ermark, seeing a bit of himself in them. Upon them arriving in Kar’enca’diar Artoran began to guide them. The city was not for them, with its finery and splendor. Instead, the Ermark settled for a simpler life. They moved around to the outskirts of the city, building weak wooden walls. They would become the defenders of the city, seeking conflict at every turn.

The Lost Elves
Patron God: Naer’Va
Concepts: Ritual Sacrifice

Physical Description: Elves of House Drow are dark skinned and dark haired. They are broader shouldered than most elves, but not quite so muscle-bound as House Ermark. Their eyes are a golden yellow, the color of bronze glinting in the desert sunlight. Their hair is almost always in many thin braids, or worn with accessories to hold it back. Most Drow use makeup near their eyes, often in dark blacks or browns, to keep the sun out of their eyes. Some Drow add touches of light blues or reds to accent their natural features. Many Drow also pierce their ears, lips, or nose, and wear piercings made of gold or bronze.

Diet: House Drow’s diet differs from most elves in that it includes mostly meat and grains. While they do not dislike fruit, it is hard to grow in large quantities using what fertile land lies along the Khemet Delta. Thus, they grow grains instead, and fruit is a luxury. They also hunt many desert beasts, although they avoid harming those that are symbols of their gods.

Culture: Drow Culture is relatively unique out of the Elven houses. Having not developed within the relative isolation of Kar’enca’diar, Drow are much less xenophobic than other Elves, and are more likely to consider other races on (almost) equal footing. Living their long lives in the harsh desert makes them no strangers to death, and thus they revere death not as the end but as a passage into the next stage of existence. Thus, they revile House Oona, believing them to be abominations. Those Drow who die are buried in elaborate tombs that are carved into cliffs, or built as palaces for the dead.

History: While most Elves were created and live within Kar’enca’diar, the Drow were swept away and carried into the desert on the backs of giant scarabs when they were very young. Thus, the Drow grew and developed their culture independently of other Elves, and have yet to meet their kin. They also do not place as much reverence in Kar’Vode’an, and rather consider Kereth and Naer’Va to be their chief Deities, the first for his role in the Afterlife, and the second for her role in Life and Survival.
